They should be able to be 20 yards down field by the time the QB finsihes a 5 step drop. If we wait for a player to zig, zag, juke, etc on their route, the QB will get killed, but if we have a flyer running straight at the snap, the downfield threat is there every time. Not only that, keep in mind, this isn't necesarily the goto guy on every play, his job is to stretch the D and if they don't stretch, you hit him quick past them and they will start stretching down the field. My main idea is if the downfield threat is there on any given play, it will have to be respected - especially if we are running out of play action and the D won't be able to just stack the OL to stop the run.
