For that high of a pick, shouldn't he AT LEAST be an IMMEDIATE upgrade to Eric Winston (who we cut to make room for Fisher) and flash the ability to throw around backup quality players....or even be able to throw around third string playersxthat were cut from 2 win teams like Austen Lane?
FFS, I would HOPE SO.
If you draft a position like RT, guard, ILB, fullback, kicker or punter (positions of less importance than playmaking skill position guys or other positions that impact wins and losses) that high in the draft, that player better enter the league KICKING ASSES AND TAKING NAMES.
Right now, Eric Fisher is doing nothing but putting a larger target on his back for opposing players to shoot at so they can say:
"I kicked the ass of the first overall pick in the draft"
If something doesn't drastically chanclge quickly, a lot of players are gonna get that feather in their cap.

I think RT is a more important position than you're giving it credit, I mean, you yourself said that teams will put their best pass rushers on that side due to matchups.
No matter who we drafted, I wouldn't expect them to be more than an average to above average player at their position year 1.
By year 3 or 4, he needs to be a dominant player at his position and challenging to be an all pro.
Fisher hasn't been good up to this point, and I wish we had taken Richardson as I think he would have been a better pick.
But we picked Fisher, and I'll let that play out before I totally crucify the guy.
