If the Chiefs were 100%, for sure, hell-bent on keeping Pioli, they would probably go dark. They'd ignore all the criticism and the questions, not respond to anyone for any reason, and hope that a new coach and the passage of time will make people forget about it by September.
If you are Hunt and you were for sure keeping Pioli, this statement isn't really smart. By saying "I might fire him" and then later deciding to keep him, you've just kept the talk and the SOC outrage going.

reasonable points, I still think Clark is lying. How do you even consider keeping Pioli after this unless you are just completely out of the loop?
Parkins just finished discussing Andy Reid. Said he's got ties -- Mark Donovan worked with him, of course. Said Reid has no interest in FO/player personnel. So, I would keep an eye on Reid. Not my favorite, but a step up for sure.
