15 per for 6 years probably gets the deal done. Since Sanchez is theoretically entering his best years--he's 28--I'd be comfortable with a 6-year commitment. And we keep a player in Myers who projects to be, at worst, a good RF.
If you believe in the numbers, the Royals spent more money (Hoch, Davis, and Shields) to be a worse team in '13 than they would have been if they'd kept and played Myers.
Before this trade, the staff in no way resembled the '99 Royals, so this is a moot point. Even a second-tier FA add would have been more sensible than what DM has done.
Those praising the trade either don't understand or don't believe in statistical analysis. We know that both apply to DM.
Now that we've completed the trade, though, it's time for there to be expectations, and this means that the Royals must make the playoffs in '13.
