Most people are just regular sports fans... they aren't as obsessed as people like us who are so into it that we join message boards and keep up with every little detail. They live lives that don't revolve around their teams, they include their teams. It's simply an escape... something they enjoy... not something they immerse themselves in.
Of course Deb and other "true fans" aren't going to see the "big picture" the way we do. That doesn't make them bad people or stupid, it makes them people with a little different set of high priorities. I don't think basing her/them is necessary at all. She's just a fan who had a mic put in front of her face and was asked a question and answered it as a fan of a team... not as a spokes person for a movement of some kind.
Educating the more casual fan might be worthwhile. Bashing them for it is stupid imo.
