That's the stupid thing. I estimate it would still be profitable with an $80 million payroll. David Glass just needs to take the next step to make the team a winner and buy a couple top-tier pitchers. Next year's 25-man roster:

This year alone the Royals spent 64MM on payroll and were profitable. No reason we can't jack it up with the 15MM/year increased ESPN revenue in 2014. Plus increased revenue from when this team is a contender? It would be ridiculous if the Royals don't make a splash.
