It seems like a massive over-reaction to some run-of-the-mill name calling to me. I can only assume that you turned on your ex-friend R8ers, after he gently encouraged you to stay out of it, out of a strange need to stay on Dane's good side, groupie-style.

Or because R8ers was stepping outside the normal lines of basic insults?
