First of all, you heard wrong.
Second, I know the secret to avoiding the kind of irritation that you describe, but it takes a bit of self awareness and self control. For example, when R8ers started this thread, I read the first dozen or so posts and decided (a) I wasn't interested in answering his question and (b) I wasn't very interested in hearing a discussion of the pros and cons of debt free living. I left the thread and didn't come back until it was necessary to see why Dane left.
It seems like a massive over-reaction to some run-of-the-mill name calling to me. I can only assume that you turned on your ex-friend R8ers, after he gently encouraged you to stay out of it, out of a strange need to stay on Dane's good side, groupie-style.
