For one, mid-major applies to basketball teams that either don't have a football program, or have a FCS football program. The Mountain West is not a "mid-major" conference.
I also know if KSU ends up in the Big East, it would be ok, but I see the same shit taking place in another 10 years or so. The state of Kansas won't magically grow by 3 million people in that time period, so we'll be in the same boat.
Oh, and Vegas, Fort Collins, San Diego > Ames, Columbia, Lincoln, etc.
I don't consider Lawrence a road trip considering the fact I live 20 minutes away.
