They owned the Big XII because they owned the majority the TV markets and had better resources than rest of the schools, I don't see them having those advantages over the Pac 10, or more specifically the California schools. Although USC is going to be hurting for a few years, but they won't stay down.
But you're right about their arrogance, and that's why I still don't believe it's going to happen. I honestly think they'd rather try to make a go with the Big XII minus CU, NU, and MU so they can continue to be the big fish.
