I love how people only refer to the Davidson game when dogging Kaun yet giving him slight credit for KU's championship. Kaun was a role player, for sure. But that role was bigger than CoMo and T&C give him credit. He was not superstar by any means. I think we can all agree on this point. However, his defensive presence, setting screens, etc. were invaluable to the team.
Also, just because he wasn't drafted to the NBA and Chenowith was does not mean he was worse than Chenowith. I am pretty certain that he would have ended up as a role player on an NBA team. The guy was pretty athletic for a big man. He was just still raw. By the time he came to KU, he hadn't been playing hoops for very long.
Sasha Kaun played a role in helping the Jayhawks win a lot of games during his time at KU. No, it was not a small role. His role was comparable to Morningstar now, IMO. To not give Kaun credit for these things shows ignorance; again, JMO.
