I didn't take the post about the barbershop as an attempt to equate the struggles. I just read it as him saying it allowed him a small glimpse of what day to day life is for some black people. The goal of the thread and video seems to be to get white people to better understand what it's like to be a black person in America. If someone posts something that tries to relate to that experience on some level, I don't see how it demeans the struggle of black people, especially if it's done in the right way.
Just because you can never fully understand what it's like it doesn't mean you can't try and relate on some level.
