IMO Pete used the stats to illustrate what the best set of circumstances might be for Mark to come out and be successful. I don't think people would argue that Mark has put himself in the best situation in terms of preparation and experience to be a productive NFL QB.
I admit I thought Pete could have handled the press conference better. But I also think that he had the player's best interests at heart. FWIW, I thought that this interview a bit later was more indicative of how he felt.

i havent got time now to listen, but if its any different then why didnt he say this on NATIONAL TV and just on local radio?
