If you're sober and not doing anything wrong then you don't get arrested.
I've been through dozens of those things, if not hundreds by now (and I'm not exaggerating). And I have NEVER even had an eye blinked at me. They come up, ask me a couple questions, and let me go.
Yeah, it's a minor inconvenience. But I'll take that inconvenience any day over some drunk asshole driving down the road.
And for the record, when I worked at the TV station on Friday nights and weekends, I got the reports of their stops every Saturday morning from those checkpoints, and I don't think they ever only got one or two. Always was more like 15-20.
