Re: Shaft Flex--
Cycles/min is the best way to determine shaft flex across manufacturers, but can be a hard number to get hold of. The higher the number, the stiffer the shaft.
As a rule of thumb, Graffaloy, Fuji, TT, and UST shafts play stiffer than their rating, Aldilas and Pings play a little softer, and Rifles are usually right on.
Don't be afraid to mix and match from woods to irons, either. I prefer softer shafts in my woods and stiffer shafts in irons. I get more distance from a whippier shaft and more control from the stiff shaft for the approach shots.
My SS is anywhere from 105-112 depending on my back, and I actually prefer regular flex shafts in my woods, even though I have a quicker tempo to my swing.
