That a dude coming off a nasty knee injury -- a rookie no less -- is going to come in and push a guy to the bench who's responsible for 5% of our cap. Or funnier still, the 2 year starter here who's been outstanding in the playoffs on our way to a championship and another AFC championship and who's responsible for damn near 10% of our cap.
I'm just saying - it's not nothing. It's a fine figure for ANY viable starter. I mean name a position on the team and in a vacuum, there's an argument for being willing to pay that amount for a starting caliber player. Probably not RB, but damn near everywhere else -- it's at worst, a TOLERABLE number for a starting caliber player.
I'm just saying that I wouldn't hand-waive the consequences of just benching the guy.

Maybe I should say it's a tolerable number and if he gets beat out by Simmons that's also a fine number to swallow because if Simmons beats him out we're in friggin CANDYLAND now. Eating that cost is my best case scenario! We should HOPE for that outcome.
