Sorry I haven't had an update lately....Tuesday was my test day after 5 weeks of rehab. To get released from the cardiac rehab I had to meet standards....and for the most part it went well.....
Here is what I had to do to pass the test....and not have to go thru another 5 weeks:
Bicycle ride for 10 minutes at a medium pace....keeping the Watts level at 60
Another version of the bicycle ride at a medium pace for 10 minutes...resistance greater and Watts level at 50
Arm pedal only for 10 minutes with Watts at 55
40 leg lifts with a 10 lb weight on each leg...
60 stand up/sit down without using my arms....
30 arm bends with 7.5 lb weight each arm...
30 pushups... within 1 minute 30 seconds
40 Step Up/Step down for each leg
Resistance bands height level- 30 pullbacks focusing on upper body strength
Resistance bands 9 feet level - 30 pull downs again focusing on upper body strength
All of these I passed with flying colors, although I did just make it on the pushups.
Here's where I hit the big wall with a crash...
Treadmill walk....this one was a little different than I had been practicing.....here is what I had to do...
3 minutes walking at 1% incline at 1.2 miles per hour gait
3 minutes walking at 5% incline at 1.2 miles per hour gait
3 minutes walking at 7% incline at 1.6 miles per hours gait
Last 3 minutes walking at 9% incline at 2 miles per hour gait...and this is where I failed to complete the exercise. I managed to get 90 seconds into the last 3 minutes and my body basically gave out...breathing was rough, my O2 content was 90 and my heart rate was at 106.... I know for most of you fitness people this is not much of a thing to have to do, but for a 68 y/o heart patient this was tough.
I was kind of bummed out but my trainer told me I actually did well...my pride told me I didn't.....
Here's the funny thing.....my Blood Pressure reading AFTER my test was 6 points lower that the reading they tool before the test....
