He may have realized she's important but stating, definitively, she's an "Eagen" is a pretty far leap. That company is enormous with thousands of employees. Trying to kill her off assumptions was not believable to me...and out of character for Irving.
They needed that to happen to advance the story but it was very sloppy writing...especially for THIS show...which has been impeccable.
