Sure there was. He left a ton of meat on the bones simply by nature of his running style. It's inefficient and looks for contact. And he's not explosive through the hole -- he has more long-speed than suddenness in that regard.

You knew this a year ago when you wanted Wright.

And again, as for Wright specifically -- the issue is as to what we were lacking and who might have filled that niche. Maybe time will prove that the answer wasn't Wright, but to act as though the question wasn't asked is simply wrong.

If Pacheco is your 'homerun threat' you don't have a very explosive running game -- even when he was healthy. I haven't gotten through all his game logs, but it looks like the longest run of his career was 48 yards. Perine probably has a run that long. The difference between him and a truly dynamic guy are pretty evident.

Pacheco is a guy who's a lot like Smith in that he gets a fair bit of fan latitude due to being a homerun draft pick and having an aggressive style. But he's still a limited player.
