I've said all along that I think the sweet spot for the Chiefs offense and Mahomes is about 2.8-2.9 seconds as his pop time. That's enough time for the routes to develop but not so much that he's exposing himself to too much punishment. You can still push the ball downfield in around 3 seconds, you can also work crossers and drags.
Mahomes, when he's in rhythm, is getting the ball out in under 3 seconds. He's really always been that way. And when he's doing the stuff he was doing Sunday, it creates a brutal vicious cycle where he gets hit MORE because of some of that stuff and that makes him MORE tentative.
It really did start out bad and just got worse. The whole offense just spiraled into the ground almost from the opening snap.
