He got caught in between.
Because yeah, you'd think a G could handle the bull-rush better than anything else he'd have to deal with.
But Thuney isn't your conventional mauler guard. He's a technician. And ultimately when he's out there wide trying to protect against speed, he just seemed to start overthinking. The next thing you knew he was looking really tentative.
And here's where Thuney's robotic nature may have hurt him. For a lot of players, especially IOL, they'll just get MAD in a situation like that and be looking for some hulk-smash shit. They'll just start trying to punish guys.
Thuney doesn't really have that gear. At the time I said "Have some pride, guys -- Jesus" but I don't think it was a lack of pride. It was a lack of anger. Thuney's just not a guy that gets mad out there and in that situation, you kinda needed it. You needed to see a guy that got pissed of and said "Okay, I've had enough of that shit"...
Or maybe it really was little more than not having the length to keep those guys from getting straight to his chest. But you'd have thought he'd at LEAST have started looking to attack forward at contact rather than continue to wait, react and get driven backwards.
