Yeah -- they kinda sidestepped and whitewashed the whole Gay scene thing with him.
The odd platonic relationship with the ex-girlfriend was the centerpiece of his relationship story in the movie.
Uh...naw, man. That's not how it went. That dude was just REALLY gay and very much enjoying the trappings of fame. Stories of his debauchery during that era would make David Bowie blush.
But by the movie's telling, he was a shy, confused guy who just loved everyone...
And again - fine. I get that the story you wanted to tell was mostly the music. But it's pretty odd to essentially turn a story about Queen into a Mercury centered vehicle and then essentially skip the elements that really defined him as a person for a decade.
