I've been the one banging the drum about their being too many threes in the NBA long before anybody here, but that doesn't mean the NBA is a "dying" league. It's flourishing by any metric you look at, which is part of the reason why Silver has been reluctant to change anything about it to this point.

All that rigging an NFL game would require is getting one starting QB (hard to do, but still a possibility depending on the player's contract status) or one or two refs (much easier to do) in a particular game. If it's happened in high level professional soccer (and it has often), I'm absolutely sure it's happened before in the NFL where similarly large amounts of money are bet on a weekly basis.
