I kind of use that age as a baseline for my own life expectancy, and 2032 really isn't all that far off at this point. I'm fine now, but all life ends and that can change in a hurry. In the past, the advice I've always given and followed about losing a pet is to give it a few weeks and then get another pet. I'd love to get another kitten. But now, I'm at the age where it is reasonable to assume that any kitten I get will become a cat who outlives me. Is it selfish, or even cruel, to want another pet? I mean, people understand death, but a cat who sees me hauled off in an ambulance never to return won't.
I guess I could get an older cat, but then there's the issue of whether it would get along with the two I still have. Or maybe I should just stick with the two I've got. I just don't know.

I think the same thing about my age, pushing 62 and my mom left at 64. I have support from my SIL and my niece who both said get another pup and one of them will make sure it is taken care of. Also, my wife is younger and wants another dog ASAP!
