Most of the key players they had this year were younger or likely to be extended. And they cleared the Diggs dead cap so they'll have some money to spend. I only say this because we've been there. We know this feeling extremely well. This WAS Chiefs fans before Mahomes. Now its worse for them because they have a truly spectacular QB and a very good HC/Staff. They'd have at least one championship by now, if not more than one, coming out of the NFC. So it has to burn.
It cuts both ways. They'll still be confident and they should be. They still have a badass under center in the prime of his career.
But they're going to be waiting for that football to get pulled away from them again.

I agree. They started rebuilding their WR room. Now they can put some draft assets into the defense. They're actually in pretty good shape, especially compared to the rest of the AFC.
