And I don't get why every gay character on television has to be a super-neurotic queen. I live in a damn college town, I know plenty of gay people. I've known ONE to even remotely approximate the sort of hyper-effeminate, self-absorbed, manic figure that seemingly every gay person in a television show is.
And to make him essentially a co-star, I'm guessing he's had more screen time than Ford this year, is a poor choice. He removes you from any sort of reality.
He has some funny moments, don't get me wrong. But that's what his character is - comic relief. Or a sort of plot device to turn a story. But I just cannot stomach him as a central character in the show.
I mean at some point he's trying to have a conversation with Derek and starts going into how Derek should make out with a guy he wants to fight (I won't go into the why of it).
It's just so over the top and distracting.

I know a few people exactly like Brian. The conversation with Derek was written perfectly as to how it would go with a former colleague of mine.
