I guess Burrow is Marino? Good stats, spotty playoff resume, missed the playoffs during his prime with a loaded offense more often than you realize.
The problem with the comparison is that there wasn't SHIT around Montana beyond Marino in the 80s. You could probably call Allen similar to Elway at a similar stage in their career? Would Jackson be Foutes? Incredible stats, little playoff success. Goff could be Simms? Got a good playoff run with a really good team. Occasionally looks spectacular, oftentimes is just a game manager. Could Stafford be Plunkett? Early career on bad teams, won a championship changing teams mid-career and caught fire for a post-season?
Some of the other guys like Moon and Kelly did most of their real damage in the 90s after Montana had aged out.
But the bottom line is that it really was Montana and then everyone else through the 80s. And Montana didn't always set the scoreboard ablaze or rack up gaudy stats, but he was the guy you wanted when it mattered.

Kinda. The difference would be that Montana wasn’t a roadblock for Marino like Mahomes is for Burrow. But I get what you mean.
