I get they could get a talented TE and RB to help him but the bottom line here is how much is that gonna help? I think this is pretty close to the ceiling for him. Might go a bit higher with added talent but at best he’s what?…..The 7th best QB in the conference?
You saw Herbert carry a team with no RB, no TE and one real weapon (McConkey) from an 11 point deficit and score 21 points in the 2nd half to win while Bo Nix could only lead his team to a FG in the 2nd half.
DJ made such a good point about scheme helping Nix. When that goes out the window he’s not near the QB you need.

And game script will be even more critical than scheme for him.
Can you EVER see a world where Nix does what Mahomes did to the Texans in 2019?
If Bo Nix is ever down 24-0 in a playoff game, turn out the lights because the party is over.
He simply doesn't have enough ways to beat you. He's very athletic and willing to use that mobility. He
might be smart and he seems fairly accurate on short passes.
That's....Alex Smith. It's exactly Alex Smith.
That player can be a beloved teammated and winning player. He can be a very good QB. But he's ALWAYS going to be dependent on game script and a superior supporting cast to win games.
If you called him Poverty Lamar, you might not be far off. And the real problem is that Lamar (and Henry) CREATE some of the easy throws that Jackson gets because of just how dynamic a threat Jackson is with his legs.
Well Poverty Lamar doesn't get those easy throws because his legs, while dangerous, aren't so dangerous that you compromise your coverage schemes for it.
Poverty Lamar is Alex Smith. Or Jake Garcia. Or if you reaaaaaaaly squint, maybe you can get to Donovan McNabb?
But he'll never be that Rodgers or Mahomes or Young or even Elway sort who uses his legs to set up elite arm talent. Because he simply doesn't have it. Take away his legs and he's just a completely forgettable ball thrower. He's Jimmy Garoppolo.
