How many game-winning drives your dude got?
Yeah. Let's take a look at those 7 gunslinger mahomes gwds this year.

Bengals - 1 incomplete and 2 runs before gwfg.
Chargers - 1 down field completion, 1 shovel pass. Everything else was on the ground. Rushing TD for the "gwd" with 6 minutes left in the game.
Bucs - Everything was a quick pass or checkdown. Add in some rushes and QB runs. Rushing TD for the win.
Denver - go ahead FG with 6 minutes left in the game. Gets credit for "gwd" on a blocked Den FG.
Carolina - Quick passes and a long QB run. FG to win.
Raiders - Credit for "gwd" on go ahead FG with 9:55 left in the 4th qtr.
Chargers - Quick passes/checkdowns. 1 down field completion. Add in rushes and QB run. FG to win.

In all of those "game winning drives" Pat completed 2 passes that traveled more than 10 yards down field. TWO. And both traveled barely more than 10 yards.

I give him credit all the time for being deadly at the end, but it cracks me up that all you guys that actually watch the Chiefs don't even realize why he's so successful on those drives. You're all over there arguing about 'what's wrong with pat--but good thing he's still clutch'. The reason he's so clutch is because he's smart enough to completely change his game at the end. He ALWAYS goes with quick passes and checkdowns, while getting some help from the RBs and popping a run himself from time to time--because that's the SMART way to do it. He doesn't try to play hero ball and throw lower percentage passes that could end drives or result in turnovers. He gets it out quick or takes off running, even if the pocket isn't dirty, because that's the way to win games.

But don't get it twisted (because i know you will), he's not out there carving defenses up and turning into SuperPat at the end of games. He's simply playing it smart.
