Ok, again opinions differ. And we were penalized 300 yards
more than our opponents (click) that year.
I don't remember memes like those, or improper, favorable flags. I remember Manning throwing pick after pick, then rehabbing in-season before returning less of a QB, but a stronger pure leader.
Like so often, it was a defensive team that prevailed. Look at the Top 10 offenses ever, damn near every one was beaten by a top defensive team.
