I mean, if we're honest with ourselves, there is no more corrupt sport than college football. Preseason feelings have influenced countless national titles, and the officiating thumb on the scale is so prevalent it's just accepted as the cost of doing business.
Teams are given license to cheat and others are hit with the hammer of God for the mistakes of unaffiliated rogue actors.
Mizzou doesn't deserve to be ranked based on their play, but there is no internal logic from the voters other than favortism.
