Some of the MTJ CAN be torn, OR NOT, but if but if the tendon still has it's insertion on the bone ITS A PARTIAL TEAR. Which means if the ligament or tendon is stretched beyond it's structural capacity it is still classified as a tear.

A partial tear is torn. Just not all the way through. Has nothing to do with detachment.
