A knee to the back of the helmet probably puts him in concussion protocol and it was nothing but blind luck that it didn't happen.
About the best you can say of what he did there is "Hey, at least he didn't lead with his throwing shoulder..."
I mean c'mon Pat - if you're gonna go out there blindly putting yourself (and evidently your teammates) in harms way, maybe just sit it out.
I've seen kickers make better plays on ballcarriers than that. It was just a reckless and silly play that led directly to injury.
Can the KIND of injury that took place there be directly foreseen? Nah, not really. But is the fact that there was an injury on that play even remotely surprising? Not at all - you throw your body into a pile with little technique and without even seeing what you're hitting, weird shit is gonna happen. It could've easily been Mahomes that got knocked out for awhile there.
