Throwing games is despicable shit. Unlike cheating, it isn't hard to guarantee a loss. Even lowlifes like shoeless Joe Jackson can find ways to hide it in plain sight. And worst of all, any player that would accept a loss is a disgrace to himself, to the fans who expect to see a game and not a predetermined screenplay, and to the city fronting a gajillion dollars to let them play. I think the argument has always been that not every member of the Black Sox was in on the fix, and that Jackson almost certainly was not as he hit like.400 plus that series.
Other than that, I agree. The proliferation of endorsed sports betting at the level it is will be a problem sooner or later.
