I don't like the result of the Russ trade, but the decision made perfect sense at the time, and in the end, it might've been the best thing that ever happened because it led us to Sean Payton and Bo Nix.

No, there were definitely other options.
And even if a lot of GMs would have traded for Wilson in that situation (very debatable, as a lot of people had acknowledged that he was in decline and losing athleticism), they wouldn't have given up four 1st/2nd rounders and three talented players to get him. And then turned around and given him a ludicrous contract with a $50 mil signing bonus before he stepped foot on the field.
