when i was 12 years old the way i really discovered football was reading grainy old black and white scans of sports illustrated in my jr high school library
i sat there and read about joe montana and jerry rice and the 49ers dynasty, and my little developing brain blew up with the absolute greatness that had happened
and i thought wow, maybe that could happen for my chiefs now that we have montana
i dreamed a dream that day, and for the longest time i never thought that would come
i watched it instead happen to the dallas ****ing cowboys in my own town
and now it's happening
to me
to us
in our town
12 year old me is about to come full circle
some day, some little kid is gonna read articles about patrick mahomes, in the online version of his jr high school library
and he's gonna think
