It's clear that they missed big time on Moore, and Toney is apparently a headcase.
Rice is the hit, but as a rookie, that's not been enough.
and MVS has gone from a serviceable deep threat to unplayable.
James missed most of the season and it's probably too late for him to catch up; he was almost certainly Skyy Moore insurance.
Things went bizarrely.
Drafting and developing weapons is still the right choice over paying market price, and if they had simply not been historically bad, we'd be cruising.

It is 100% dancing around it. Every time the blame gets deflected from mahomes to coaches to Reid while minimizing that these guys are all fitting square pegs into round holes. We are stuck with what we have so I agree we need to do better at making passable chicken salad out of chicken shit. Because that can be just good enough to support a team that is otherwise excellent in every other area. But it didn’t have to be that way. And just trying to be good enough for a team that is 1-2 pieces away from dominating is wasted opportunity, not a silver lining. Until then I’m not going to keep throwing these guys under the bus asking why they’re aren’t squeezing more juice out of an obvious lemon.
Drafting is a long term answer. When you have a Super Bowl ready team however… when you don’t have the answer you bandaid. We did it last year with Dunlap and again this year with omenihu. We did it this year with Donovan smith. These guys didn’t ruin the development of karlaftis or wanya or FAU. Even worse because rookie WRs can find reps in lots of different ways. We didn’t bandaid WR because we were overconfident in our WR room. It’s shocking that we’re treating 1-2 years at $10m like it’s some kind of backbreaking deal. We scouted Toney all year and wholeheartedly believed he was wr1. We scouted on skyy and banked on him being wr2. Hell the two outside free agents we brought in are Kafka guys so we had intel on them too. We had more than enough info to raise concern. The regression isn’t bizarre to some who saw that problem coming a mile away. Imagine that… a roster with no wr who’s even remotely sniffed 1000 yards is having trouble targeting their WRs.
