2022 proved our offense can be a #1 offense without Hill. Mahomes was simply unbelievable last year and I think it's easy for us to take that for granted. It wasn't his 2018-2019 Legion of Zoom, but instead he proved he could turn on a Brady/Brees precision with an assassin like quality on 3rd downs (whether by using his legs, finding an escape hatch with McKinnon, or doing what he had to invent). This is the second time where defenses have seemed to catch up to his style (2021 being the first). But Patrick has reinvent himself to lead a number one offense in multiple ways.
It's just going to be harder to sustain a number one offense without Hill. We've also seen a pattern with Veach, a hole develops (2018 with our defense, 2020 with our offensive line, 2021 when our patched up defense started straining), and he then is hellbent to fix it that next offseason. It's not the most proactive approach, but compare it to the Bills, who were proactive as could be building the perfect team in free agency, and are now in cap hell and look very much like they may have missed Allen's first window.
So far Veach's track record is pretty stellar by holding a strong core and patching holes as they develop, I have no doubt he'll go on to find weapons for Patrick this offseason -- and as Patrick has proven, he can chameleonize himself with the strengths of his offense.
