Paying him max now is poor strategy and cap mismanagement.
The Chiefs gave him the biggest QB contract ever in 2020 and got the first 4 years of that contract cheap.

Did you guys think they wouldn't ever have to pay the meat of that contract?

That's the way every QB contract works. What do you not get about this?
