Guys are getting open because defenses are putting such little respect on them that they’re basically letting Justin Watson roam free.
Kelce is having to work 10 times as hard to get open. Rashee is starting to get challenged and he’s doing ok but he’s got a ways to go to be good in his new role. Skyy is basically getting locked down with minimal attention. This illusion of our WRs getting open everywhere is because Mvs and Watson are often open but we see time and time and time and time again why they are risky to throw to even if they’re open by a mile.
It isn’t just the drops. Can we please stop saying this? They aren’t great at separation and when they do, they have no football iq whatsoever so they make maddeningly dumb decisions time and time again on their routes. And now defenses are tripling down on our playmakers and funneling everything to our worst guys. Catching our drops helps us be just good enough to pull off these wins and that is good enough to keep carrying us, but it doesn’t change that there’s a significant issue that goes way way beyond drops. They’re just bad WRs and we have to find a way to carry them
