All of which is still TBD but 11 weeks in and I think the questions are becoming more valid

What I'm reminding myself as well is that last year we also had hardly any margin to a number of our victories, even against bad teams. We had 10 one score wins last year, two each against Denver and the Chargers, with one score wins against the Raiders, Titans, Texans, and all three of our playoff wins.
Compare that to last night, where our offense continues to get drive killing penalties, our receivers drop passes that hit them in the hands, Mahomes continues to look like his uneven 2021 self, and Andy, for whatever reason, has started coaching Smith era conservative on 4th downs in the opponents territory. All of that adds up to a loss.
Our board had melted down at the Bills and Bengals losses last year, and to be fair to this year's team, we've only now matched last season's loss total with two equivalent losses (Lions and Eagles). The fact that we're losing these games by one possession shows it won't take much to turn it around, but we do need
something to turn around if want to make a deep run in the postseason.
Last year, Mahomes became just laser focused with a Brees/Brady like precision deep in the year and it carried us through the playoffs. Was he actually assisted because he needed to get the ball out early with OBJ/Wylie and his ankle? That might be part of it, but it's also clear he didn't have two complete bystanders at receiver who took a combined 90 snaps with 4 targets and 1 catch to show for it (MVS and Moore last night).
