Wait a minute haven't you been ranting for months about how we had a prolific offense without any semblance of talent? This is despite as of last year investing pocket change for WRs, intentionally leaving a giant hole at RT, and walking into last season with a 7th round pick to fix our holes in the running game.
How can you say it's been nearly the same when we've been pumping blue chip draft picks and trade ups for defense for 5 years. And even still every year prior to this people have complained about our defense. It's really hard to build a defense and much as I love spags he is way less reliable building a consistently dominant defense as Reid. CJ is a playmaker but he's nowhere near the difference maker as mahomes. We probably need a lot of talent and depth to consistently cook on defense. This year we have both. Is that sustainable? Not nearly as much as offense
I think most people agree that with mahomes we don't need Justin Jefferson or Trent Williams. We need competent talent and if we out a fraction of the attention on offense as we've done for defense we would have elite talent on offense too. Before anyone twists my words that isn't to say we shouldn't build a great defense. But we set a low bar for how much talent mahomes and Reid need to cook, and we haven't hit that this year as of yet. We aren't excelling on offense because we haven't tried very hard to hit a low bar, not because it is extraordinarily hard.
