I think it's also fair to say we see somewhat of a pattern where our offense masterminds a strategy. Next year defenses adapt. Year after that offense makes a new adjustment. Defense adapts next year.
Mecole was a valuable weapon until defenses start to take away the deep stuff. I'd argue we saw signs of that in 2020. But it left us kind of fitting a square peg into a round hole in 2021 where we were finding ways to make it work even though we clearly had a missing piece. This year was a little more unexpected since we arguably should've just been able to replicate last year's approach. But without a doubt defenses have gotten better adapting to our offensive approach. That's part of what we're dealing with. In the future we should be constantly evolving instead of reacting after defenses make their adjustment
