Denver sent 6. That's on the QB to pick up, right? He either has to see/hit a hot or fire where it's vacated. Mahomes has to know he has that many guys coming and realize that means single-high (has to; he has 4 in the pattern).
So if he didn't anticipate the blitz and didn't set up a hot, then he needs to fire that deep ball. Again, it's a 'throwing with anticipation' problem.
The only reason I say it may be a WR issues is if Mahomes DID spot the blitz, call out a hot and the WR didn't see/run the hot route. That would've ****ed everything up pretty good.

He had to know it was a blitz it was obvious from the start and the OL actually did a nice job giving him time. He was looking to that side of the field but hard to tell if he was looking at Kelce (probably) or Hardman first.
