The problem with this logic is the likelihood that we trade for him and lock him up for something that's "reasonable" is non-existent. Why would he give up the optionality of being able to negotiate with all teams?

So then we've traded for a guy who will be a FA after the season and might command more than we're willing to pay him and then we've used a 2 on a guy who hasn't cracked 1,000 yds more than once in his career and is out of our control.

He is a good WR. He has not proven to be an elite WR yet in his career. You're not getting him for the next several years at a price that's going to feel good for the Chiefs. This is all fantasyland.
