Yeah - it absolutely would be enormous.
But it's an amount they're stuck with either way - and in fact an amount cutting him would reduce over a 2-3 year period (in a fairly large way).
Ultimately they just need to review the matter over a 3-year period. Especially given that next season is a write-off for them. They have no chance to compete next year so why worry about it? Move heaven and earth to make it possible to accelerate that money onto the 2024 cap and in so doing you save $37 million in total cap damage over the next 3 seasons.
They really have to do it, IMO. It's the only thing that might help them get back to the playoffs by 2025. If they try to 'salvage' this experiment they're probably looking at 2027/2028 on the low end.
