It’s not that the WRs are getting worse. It’s that they aren’t getting better. We moved the ball “fine” because 22 of 39 passes were to our TEs and RBs. Because Pacheco is playing terrific. And because 4 days after kelce got hurt we had to feed him 9 targets. All of this against the worst defense in the nfl.
Skyy and Mvs are still snap eaters with minimal production. Toney has cleaned up the drops but is by and large relegated to a short catch and run guy. Watson is still the same guy - a nice big play target but not a consistent threat. Apart from cleaning up drops these guys have not changed. The only WR who has gotten better so far is Rice. Ross still has upside since he just hasn’t gotten the reps. The rest of these guys pretty much are what they are at this point.

What nonsense is this?
The WR's aren't getting better? Rice had 4 catches on 4 targets for 72 yards. That's pretty decent. No drops. Lotta yards after the catch. Looks explosive.
At this point in time, it looks like Rice is going to be a good one.
Skyy has been a disappointment thus far, no question.
James looked to be the insurance policy for Skyy suckitude, but he's on IR. Shit happens.
If you don't think Rice emerging is a good sign, I don't know what to tell you.
And yeah, there were missed opportunities with guys running open (ROSS for a long possible TD, for example.) So Mahomes isn't playing up to his own lofty standards. And yeah, the play calling was ****ing reerun-d. All of the manufactured shit for Toney was a disaster. I don't know why they just won't have him run ****ing routes, he looked really good doing that last season.
You want to argue that MVS is MIA? Sure.
You want to argue that Moore has underachieved? Absolutely.
You want to argue that Rice needs more snaps? I agree.
Hell, I'll argue that Ross needs more looks, too. He seems to get open often on a per snap basis (which is precious few snaps.) I get that the team wants to get their higher capital draftees going as a first order of business, but it looks to me like all the kid does is get open.
Nobody that was being realistic thought this was going to be a well oiled machine right out of the gate. Two new tackles, Bienemy gone, a very young WR corps-and all it takes is to be a tiny bit out of synch to look dysfunctional.
They built a defense that they could lean on while the offense figured it out. It's working, they're 5-1 and the only loss was by one point in a game with no Kelce and Toney dropping 8 balls after missing all of camp.
I said after the draft when all of you whiners were screaming that if we didn't get Dhop we were ****ed that if Veach hits on ONE of these guys, we'll be fine. Well, Moore has disappointed, but Rice looks like a hit to me. I'm looking forward to ramping him up.
Meanwhile, we've built a defense capable of dominating. That's good shit.
