Maybe they just don't want Hardman back - which seems odd given that they clearly intended to make him a focal point of the offense in 2022 before he got hurt - but 'a couple months ago' they thought Skyy Moore was going to be able to step up and mitigate the loss of JJSS.
He hasn't been able to. It appears he WON'T be able to.
So set what happened in the summer aside. Hardman's one of the few guys out there who might be available, who fits under the cap and can IMMEDIATELY step into the system with a complete understanding of how it works.
Why WOULDN'T they be interested in him?

Bingo. People are going to be singing a different tune after watching us try and keep up with the likes of Miami in the coming weeks. Trading a late conditional pick for a guy who, at this point, would easily be the best and most dependable WR on the roster, would be a no brainer. You're not going to find anyone else to come in here and help immediately like he could.
As far as trading a conditional pick, we have no idea if KC tried to keep Mecole, they very well may have, and he decided he wanted to go make a name for himself outside of KC thinking he could do more. He's certainly been humbled if that was the case and I'm sure regrets his decision, even if they offered him a little more money.
I mean I'm not giving up hope just yet, but man, I need to see something this week or it's going to start getting worrisome.
