Yes, I would wager that Rice - this year - cannot match what MVS does with the route tree he runs. MVS consistently has the highest - or amongst the few highest - average depth of target in the league. This isn't about just replacing yards - it's the routes he runs and the way he threatens defenses.
We signed MVS for a very specific purpose, and he did what was asked of him at a salary commensurate with other players who performed similarly. And then, when we needed him to step outside his box, he did with flying colors in the most important game *I* think this team has played in a long time.
