If the MRI doesn't show anything structural - he'll play.
Because at that point it really would be just pain management. He can't make it worse, unless the worry is that by trying to compensate he subjects the other knee to heightened risk of injury (or by going less than 100% he opens himself up to be the nail rather than the hammer).
